Bruce Anchor
A Bruce / Claw Anchor is great for anchoring a fishing kayak over clean ground such as sand, shingle and mud. Also works well for anchoring on mixed ground. Attachment points are found at the top and bottom of the anchor so that a weak-link/trip system can be fitted if required.
1kg size works great for shallower waters (less than 50ft).
2kg size is better for shallower and deeper waters, especially if there is a reasonable tidal pull.
We recommend using a 1m length of chain with a bruce anchor to increase the holding power of the anchor to the bottom. This helps buffer the jolting motion of the kayak in choppy waters making the anchor less likely to slip from the bottom. If using chain, an anchor shackle is required to attach it to the anchor.
